It's a flat circular bread dish dressed with olive oil, tomatoes,
mozzarella cheese and a topping of your choice ranging from pepperoni,
red n green peppers, mushrooms, ham or if your seafoody inclined,
shrimps and anchovies...a hotbed bread platter seasoned with tomato
tang and cheesy stretch, the Italian plate on which a myriad of meals
are placed...
With all western imports Japan mixes, melds, shapes, turns on its
head and re invents...Not that other countries haven't done so before
with the beloved pizza.
We've had the stuffed crust, the square pizza and even from the
homeland, the cousin of pizza, the folded mess that is the calzone..
Whats next? What do pizza eating consumers need? The crust is the
lowest selling point (though personally my favorite) we've had garlic
sauce dips, cheese melt fondues and thin non crusts, but Japan hits
straight from the base with...wait for it....brace yourself for....

STUFFED SAUSAGE AND BACON AND CHEESE CRUST TASTE FIGHT EXPLOSION!
Like they invented a cure for cancer in the form of pizza, not only
have they turned the crust into a sausage wiener encircling the
circumference of your cheese tomato chosen topping fantasia, the
sausage sits merrily on a bed of cheese snuggled up to its fond cousin
"crispy bacon strip"
Maybe this is a pizza revolution sweeping the entire world that I've
missed out on, but for a country that has brought us potato, crab,
mayonnaise and potato as a pizza topping, I can't wait to see what they
do next.
