Working in Japan
Another book in the series from "Getting Closer to Japan".
This volume being definitely oriented to the "Company Transfer" employee.
If you ever find yourself in the most fortunate position of being transferred to Japan via your company as an international or you will be visiting Japan on short term business this book is for you.
It covers alot of the basic essentials; what to expect, preparations before coming, basic customs such as exchanging business cards. This is behavior that's not expected from fresh foreigners in Japan but this book will give you the information you need so that when you do arrive Japanese co workers will coo in amazment "oooohh you know to hand over business card with both hands !" and other trivial knowledge.
The book does go into some depth later with structure of companies, titles, meetings, taxes, etc. I think "Working in Japan" is a bit generous a title as the target audience would be the English only speaking or "on assigment" contingent; a lot of the real internal workings of working in Japan are rarely enforced on such employee's due to the short term nature of their contracts.
This aside, its a fair read and the taxes, benefits, employee rights section does provide good information. For more indepth day to day working in a Japanese company I would recommend this book.
